A visit to the consulate and a shopping trip

Professor Hague set up a “tour” of the American Consulate for us.  I thought it was actually going to be a tour but really it was just a power point presentation/lecture about what they do there.  The guy that did the presentation does passport and visa interviews.  So needless to say it wasn’t the most exciting hour of my life.  Also they made me run my bag through the security machine about 7 times.  Apparently I could have done something serious with my gum and ibuprofen.

This is the only picture we got before they yelled at us saying that we weren’t allowed to take any pictures in front of the building.

Since we were in the city, we figured we might as well do a little shopping in the centro.   There were 5 of us that shopped: Me, Rachel, Allison, Sarah, and Zoie; Overall it was a very successful trip!  We all got something that we had been looking for!  I got a few things for my future classroom along with something cute for Mom.

I love the felling of independence that it gives me to be able to get on a bus-knowing where it picks me up, getting off in the right spot and cruising around town like it’s my own!
