My Spanish is getting
better every day. There are lots of
words that I once knew and used often but that I have forgotten since I wasn’t
speaking Spanish as much as was hearing it all the time. But as I listen to the natives speak those
words and phrases are coming back to me.
It’s a pretty good feeling.
Another thing that feels good is that I am the one that most of the
other students in my group come to when they have a Spanish related question—if
my professor isn’t around, that is. I
remember sitting in lessons or in members homes and trying my very hardest to
follow along with the conversation but most of the time I couldn’t keep
up. But I had my senior companion to
rely on. It feels good to be the other
person now that others can rely on to understand what is going on.
We went to the Francisco de Montejo ward today--it's tiny. I thought it was a branch but apparently there are a lot of inactive members. everyone there is very nice. Practically every member of the ward came up to us to introduce themselves. We went to a sunday school class for YSA. We tripled the regular size of the class. Relief Society was great! The sisters are super sweet. They all introduced themselves and told us if we ever needed anything to just let them know. So sweet! Later that evening we went to a CES fireside where Elder Ballard spoke. It was a really good talk. From there we didn't have a way to get back home because Profe didn't want us to take the bus. So he took 4 girls in his car, Rachel and I went with 2 guys, and other members took the others home. The guys that took us home were super nice. Their names are Elier and Carlos. Apparently hey hang out with the BYU groups that come every year.
